At Mulberry Farms, The Great Street Company (the developer) has debuted a new concept in the rental market: Delivering a robust community life experience where neighbors want to connect with each other and help make the magic happen.
People may choose to live at Mulberry Farms for the beautiful homes, robust amenities, and neighborhood appeal, but they stay because of the deep connection they feel to life in the community.
Bringing neighbors together
So how do we create an engaged and connected community? It all starts by bringing neighbors together for a shared purpose.
Engagement planning involves understanding the demographic and leaning into what they value. The 55+ demographic is a discerning audience that appreciates events and activities that fit an active adult lifestyle, reigniting their lifelong passions and opening the door for new ones.
Take, for example, Operation Toy Drop. Residents gathered to assemble treats and toys for dogs looking for their forever homes, then delivered the goodies to Camp Golden Years, a veteran-founded nonprofit that finds loving homes for senior dogs. While at the facility, they got to take a tour and see the furry recruits in action.
Speaking of veterans, we know patriotic pride runs deep at Mulberry Farms, so a community-wide Veterans Day celebration is in the works. We’re also planning Mulberry Days, a celebration of small-town living with a pie baking contest, a community cookout, live music, and lawn games.
Mulberry Farms residents have opportunities to connect on a more regular basis, too. Weekly and monthly gatherings include coffee chats, birthday bashes, and sweet treats at the Silo. Our numerous resident-led clubs allow neighbors to get to know one another through shared interests.
People own what they help create
The magic happens when residents help create the community life experience. At Mulberry Farms, neighbors are encouraged to help plan events, start a club, and share their programming ideas with the onsite team.
We want to know what excites residents, because that’s what drives them to participate. And once neighbors are engaged in their community, they’re drawn to help co-create future experiences (and traditions) so others can build neighborly connections, too.
At Mulberry Farms we engage residents early and often, and programming is evolvinges along with the community. We strike up conversations with residents at events. We see who sticks around to help clean up and who shows up again at the next shindig. These are the people who will likely help plan activities, start a club, lead a philanthropic effort, welcome new neighbors, and rally other residents to get involved.
Delivering on a promise
While the built environment gives structure and form to a place, community engagement programming provides a framework for intentional living. Mulberry Farms is a place where intentional living is at the forefront.
It’s more than just a thoughtfully planned neighborhood designed for those 55+ who want long-term living sans the mortgage and maintenance. It’s a place to live socially, live freely, live uncompromisingly.
